unless you are reading this
at the very precise moment
that someone you love
has turned their back on you
don't even bother
just dog ear the page
and place it back on the shelf
amongst more deserving writer neighbours
but come back to it someday
when the pain has reached your fingertips
to the point that you can't even
find the courage to turn the page
then you might be ready to stare at it
because nothing in the world
is as real as a broken heart
and we all know it
